Russian population falls by 43,700 in 9M 2019 - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Russia's de jure population was an estimated 146.7 million on October 1, 2019, down 43,700 since the start of the year, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
The number of births in 9M 2019 fell to 1,115,600, from 1,210,000 in the same period last year, and the number of deaths fell to 1,352,500 from 1,383,400.
Thus, there was natural population loss of 236,900 in 9M 2019, compared with 173,400 in the same period last year. Net migration offset the natural losses by 81.6%.
Net migration was 193,200 in 9M 2019, up from 89,900 in 9M 2018.
