Azerbaijani president hoping for further meetings of Russian, NATO military commanders in Baku
BAKU. Nov 26 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said he is hoping that representatives of the Russian and North Atlantic military leadership will continue to meet in Baku.
"Meetings of Russia's and NATO's high military command in Baku have become a good tradition. We appreciate it very much. Last year we hosted three such meetings. This is the second meeting so far this year. In other words, this is now a living tradition and I think it will continue," Aliyev said, receiving Russian Armed Forces General Staff Chief Gen. Valery Gerasimov on Tuesday.
Gerasimov and NATO Military Committee Chairman Air Chief Marshal Stuart Peach met in Baku, Azerbaijan on Tuesday to discuss measures for preventing incidents between Russia and NATO, the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax.
