Fifteen people injured in bus crash in Trans-Baikal Territory taken to two local hospitals

CHITA/BLAGOVESHCHENSK. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Eight people injured in Sunday's bus crash in the Trans-Baikal Territory are now receiving medical treatment at a district hospital in Nerchinsk.

"The injured are still being evacuated from the scene and taken to the district hospitals in Shilka and Nerchinsk. Eight people have been admitted to the Nerchinsk hospital. There are no children among them. Some of the patients are in serious condition and some are moderately injured," the press service of the Trans-Baikal Territory's Health Ministry said.

Seven people were taken to the Shilka District Hospital, chief medical officer Sergei Byankin told Interfax on Sunday.

"We have received seven people: four men and three women. One man in critical condition, unconscious. He is now in the intensive care unit. The injures of others are tentatively of moderate severity," he said.

As reported earlier, at about 3 p.m. local time on Sunday, a passenger bus fell from a bridge in the Sretensky district, Trans-Baikal Territory. The Trans-Baikal authorities have confirmed that 19 people were killed and another 21 injured in the road accident. A criminal case was opened following the accident under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services in violation of safety standards, which causes homicide of two or more people).
