Russian, Indian cos to discuss boosting Russian coal supplies in Q1
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russian and Indian companies will hold a meeting during Q1 2020 to discuss the joint implementation of projects in the coal industry and increasing exports of Russian coal to India, the Russian Energy Ministry said.
Agreement on this was reached during a conversation between Deputy Russian Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky and Indian Ambassador to Russia Venkatesh Varma.
Russian coal producers Evraz, Kolmar and Mechel shipped trial consignments of coal to India in 2019. Representatives of Coal India Limited and Indian Steel Association visited coal mines in the Far East of Russia.
India is still some way behind China, the world's biggest coal market, but demand in India is growing rapidly and its share of world demand is expected to double by 2040, according to the most recent BP Energy Outlook.
