Rada committee recommends extending legislation on Donbas special status by another year

KYIV. Dec 11 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada is expected to extend the effect of the law on special self-government procedures in certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions by another year on Thursday, December 12.

The Rada Committee on State Building and Local Governance recommended the Rada put a bill on extending the Donbas special status legislation on its agenda and adopt it.

Roman Lozynsky of the Holos party faction and Olena Shkrum of the Batkivshchyna faction, who belong to the said committee, said their factions would not support this bill.

As reported earlier, a bill on amending Article 1 of the Ukrainian law on special self-government procedures in certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions was registered under No. 2569.
