Militants breach truce over 400 times in 4 Syrian provinces in Dec - Russian military

MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Militants from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group (banned in Russia) and the so-called Syrian National Army have committed more than 400 truce violations in December, head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Yury Borenkov said at a press briefing on Thursday.

"More than 400 breaches of the cessation of hostilities committed by militants from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group and the so-called Syrian National Army have been observed in the Latakia, Hama, Idlib, and Aleppo provinces since December, 2019," Borenkov said.

Five civilians have been killed and another five wounded since the beginning of this month in militants attacks, which target both positions of Syrian government forces and residential areas, he said.

"Six Syrian servicemen have been killed and another ten have been wounded," he said.

Also, illegal armed units have actively been using attack drones, Borenkov said, adding that this month Syrian government forces destroyed four drones launched by militants in the direction of Syrian armed forces positions.
