About 400,000 apply for Russian citizenship over year - Interior Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - About 400,000 applications for Russian citizenship have been filed over the past year, Russian Deputy Interior Minister Igor Zubov said.

"The rate has grown approximately 80% year-on-year, which is the highest indicator in years. On the whole, the number [of filed applications] is increasing every year," Zubov said at the State Duma on Thursday.

About 400,000 persons have applied for Russian citizenship and "most requests are granted," he said.
