Azerbaijani FM calls U.S. Senate resolution recognizing Armenian genocide attempt at political pressure
BAKU. Dec 13 (Interfax) - The resolution passed by the United States Senate recognizing the Armenian Genocide of 1915 is an attempt to falsify history as well as an attempt at political pressure, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Leyla Abdullayeva said in a statement on Friday.
"The resolution on recognizing the so-called Armenian Genocide passed by the U.S. Senate is an attempt to falsify history and put on political pressure," Abdullayeva said.
"The text of the resolution is controversial from the standpoint of history science and is based on dubious sources," she said.
"In general, the resolution is biased and is a document with no legal foundation," Abdullayeva said.
The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide of 1915 on Thursday.
