Meeting between Lavrov, Syrian FM scheduled for Dec 23 - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem on Monday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"The meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs and compatriots abroad of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Muallem, is due on December 23," Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Muallem is due to arrive in Moscow to attend the 12th session of the Russian-Syrian commission on trade, economic, and scientific cooperation, she said.
"There are plans to exchange views on a broad spectrum of international and regional problems," Zakharova said.
She said that the main topic of discussion would be the situation "on the ground" in Syria.
