Russian ship-based helicopters practice takeoffs, landings at drills in Black Sea

SEVASTOPOL. Jan 3 (Interfax) - Helicopter crews from the Russian Black Sea Fleet's naval air force practiced takeoffs and landings on the deck of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet said.

"The crews of [Kamov] Ka-27 helicopters from the separate mixed aviation regiment practiced flights from the deck of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich in the Black Sea," the press service said.

Acting in coordination with the Admiral Grigorovich crew, the helicopter crews performed takeoffs and landings using the ship's deck on the move, at anchor and at daytime and nighttime.

Simultaneously, the drills helped check coordination between all systems of the ship's aircraft complexes, including the training of the ship's units in charge of helicopter missions.

During the drills, Ka-27PL and Ka-27PS helicopters took off and landed using the frigate's deck some 20 times.
