High-ranking Russian, Chinese diplomats hold consultations on Asia-Pacific region, including Korean Peninsula

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Lou Zhaohui met on Monday for consultations on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, including the Korean Peninsula, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

"The parties discussed the situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula, as well as a number of other subjects concerning strengthening coordination between Russian and Chinese efforts in the Asia-Pacific region to improve stability in this part of the world, settle conflict situations in a political-diplomatic way, and form a regional system of equal and indivisible security and sustainable development," the statement said.

The diplomats "reached agreement on maintaining close contact between the two countries' foreign policy agencies on the abovementioned issues," the statement said.
