Seoul appreciates Moscow's role in peaceful Korean settlement - ambassador

MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Seoul and Moscow are closely interacting in the settlement process on the Korean Peninsula, South Korean Ambassador to Russia Lee Sok-bae told the press on Tuesday.

"Our government appreciates the constructive and positive role played by the Russian government in the peaceful settlement of the Korean issue. Our government will carry on close consultations and efforts taken jointly with the Russian government in this field," Lee said in response to Interfax's question about Seoul's opinion on the updated Korean settlement plan presented by Russia.

He additionally said that Seoul "thinks highly of the constructive and positive role of the Russian government in the peaceful settlement of the Korean issue."

"It is of paramount importance to resume negotiations and consultations between the United States and North Korea," Lee said.
