Lukashenko expected to visit Latvia on April 3

MINSK. Jan 16 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to visit Latvia on April 3, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins said.

"Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to be on a visit to Latvia on April 3," the Belarusian state news agency BelTA cited Karins as saying while meeting with Lukashenko.

"A lot of preparations are being made to arrange your visit to Latvia. On our part, the date could be April 3. Surely, if this is also convenient to you, we would be very happy to see you," Karins said.

The Latvian prime minister said he expected the Belarusian delegation to include business community members so that the parties could discuss not only political but also economic cooperation.

Latvian Ambassador to Belarus Einars Semanis had said earlier that Lukashenko's visit to Riga would be a good symbol of Belarus's dialogue with the European Union and NATO.
