Meeting of TCG on Donbas begins in Minsk

DONETSK. Jan 16 (Interfax) - The first meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) for the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine this year has started in Minsk on Thursday.

The additional measures to consolidate and control the current ceasefire and the consequences of its violations, the issues of water supply and debts in social payments are to be discussed at the latest meeting of the Contract Group in Minsk, the press service for the Interior Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said in a statement.

"The work of the political subgroup was focused on discussing a number of practical issues related to the special status of Donbas, formalizing it in the Constitution of Ukraine, and discussing the further development of the legal framework stemming from it," the statement said.

In addition, the issues, which remain pending following the prisoner swap on December 29, 2019, were to be discussed at the meeting of the Contract Group. However, a Ukrainian representative failed to attend the meeting.
