FGC UES modernizes energy center in Altai for 400 mln rubles
ABAKAN. Jan 20 (Interfax) - FGC UES has completed the modernization of the biggest energy center in the Altai Territory, the 500kW substation Barnaulskaya, subsidiary MES Siberia said in a statement.
Investment in the project totaled about 400 million rubles.
The company replaced the plant's main switching equipment. "If a short circuit takes place, they shut off the current, preventing power lines and substation equipment from being damaged," the statement reads.
The substation participates in crossflows linking the Altai, Kemerovo, and Novosibirsk energy systems and transmit power to Kazakhstan. According to the statement, the replacement of switching equipment increased the reliability of cross-border transmission and the energy security of three regions of Siberia.
The Barnaulskaya substation's capacity is 1,002 MVA. It is the Altai Territory's biggest power provider.
FGC is the operator and manager of Russia's unified electricity transmission grid system, including high voltage transmission lines. The state-owned grid holding Rosseti owns 80.13% of shares. The state owns 88.04% of Rosseti, and GazpromFinance B.V. holds 1.28%.
