Snow blanket grows to 6 cm in Moscow - meteorological center

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - The blanket of snow in Moscow reached six centimeters in the area around Moscow's chief weather station on VDNKh on Thursday morning, the Russian Hydro-Meteorological Center said in a statement.

There will be a light snow, ice on the roads, temperatures of up to -5 degrees Celsius, and winds of up to 12-17 m/s in the city on Thursday afternoon, the statement said.

Temperatures might drop to -7 degrees Celsius within city limits and up to -10 degrees Celsius in the suburbs overnight. It will be cloudy with light snow.

Temperatures will soar to 1-3 degrees Celsius on Friday afternoon. The city and suburbs will see snow, sleet, and rain, the Hydro-Meteorological Center said.
