Up to 7,000 Russians are on organized tours in China now - ATOR

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - Up to 7,000 Russian citizens are currently on organized tours in China, Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Executive Director Maya Lomidze said.

"The majority of tourists are in Hainan. According to preliminary estimates of federal tour operations, about 5,000-6,000 Russians are there. Up to another thousand of people may travel around China on group and individual organized tours, they travel to Beijing and Shanghai," she said.

On Friday, the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm) advised Russians to refrain from travelling to China in light of the threat of getting infected with coronavirus until the epidemiological situation in the country normalizes. Tour operators and travel agencies were advised to cease selling tours to the country.
