Evacuation of some 10,000 Ukrainians currently in China not necessary - Ukrainian NSDC
KYIV. Jan 28 (Interfax) - There are currently some 10,000 citizens of Ukraine in China, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said.
"Today, there are approximately 10,000 of our citizens there [in China]. These are our students; these are people who work in our consular and embassy departments; these are people who work under contracts in China. Today, we have established communication with almost everyone; we understand where they are, what condition they are in," Danilov said on the Ukraina 24 TV channel on Wednesday evening.
"Our citizens in China have had no problems thus far," he said.
Authorities will consider the issue of evacuating some Ukrainian citizens from China as the need arises, Danilov said.
"But I emphasize once again: if the need arises. At present, we do not see such a need," he said.
