Six Georgians, one Ukrainian detained in special services' joint operation - Georgian State Security Service

TBILISI. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Officers of Georgia's State Security Service and their Ukrainian colleagues detained six Georgian citizens and one Ukrainian during an operation to prevent the contract killing of two people in Tbilisi, the Georgian special service said in a press release on Thursday.

At the same time, the Georgian special service did not disclose the motives for the planned murder, nor did it name the potential targets. It said that the joint operation carried out by the Georgian and Ukrainian special services to thwart the plot had taken several months. The suspects were detained in Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kharkiv.

The State Security Service of Georgia added that the murder had been masterminded in Ukraine and a Ukrainian national had been hired to commit it. Georgian accomplices gave him money, as well as weapons and explosives to bomb the designated targets' car in Tbilisi.
