Putin orders government to consider toughening liability for defamation

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the government and the Kremlin administration to consider the issue of toughening liability for defamation and improving the mechanisms for refuting false information.

The order is to be fulfilled by July 1, 2020. It was issued following a meeting of the presidential Human Rights Council on December 10, 2019.
