RZD ready to transport Russian evacuees from China free of charge - company

MOSCOW. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) is prepared to transport passengers evacuating China for Russia to their respective hometowns free of charge.

"RZD is ready to carry passengers who are evacuating China for Russia. In agreement with the Russian Transport Ministry, upon request, the company will provide free travel to citizens to their hometowns," RZD said.

Russian Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh said earlier on Wednesday that Russian citizens who had planned to return to regions other than Moscow would be transported free of charge.

"We have agreed with RZD and Aeroflot that they will transport, free of charge, our citizens, who were headed to Novosibirsk, Irkutsk [and other regions] and who had tickets - but ended up at Sheremetyevo airport owing to restrictions - to their destinations, after passing all of the required procedures of the Russian Federal Service for Health and Consumer Rights (Rospotrebnadzor), using the tickets that they had," Ditrikh said.
