Azerbaijan decreased date plum exports 3.2% in 2019, shipping 81% to Russia

BAKU. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan decreased date plum exports by 3.2% to 146,100 tonnes in 2019 compared to 2018, a government official told Interfax.

Exports were $104.7 million in value terms, which was a decrease of 8.6%.

Russia was the main importer of date plums in 2019, as in 2018. The country imported 118,100 tonnes of the product last year, a drop of 7.4%, at a value of $95.3 million, a decrease of 9.4%. Overall, Azerbaijan exported 81% of date plums to Russia in 2019.

Azerbaijan exported 150,900 tonnes of date plums for $114.5 million in 2018. Russia was the main importer, receiving 127,500 tonnes of the product for $105.2 million in 2018.
