Ukrainian interior minister arrives in village where people evacuated from China will be quarantined

KYIV. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has arrived in the community of Novi Sanzhary, the Poltava region, where people evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan have been placed for observation in order to make sure they are not infected with the new coronavirus, Poltava regional administration head Oleh Synehubov said.

"The interior minister has assured us: the Ukrainians evacuated [from China] are in good health, and the ten days of the incubation period have passed. No symptoms of the disease have emerged," Synehubov said on Facebook.

As reported earlier, a SkyUp Airlines Boeing 737-73V carrying 45 Ukrainian citizens and 27 foreigners coming from China landed at Kyiv Boryspil Airport on Thursday for refueling and then continued its flight to Kharkiv International Airport.

Head of the Kharkiv regional administration Oleksy Kucher said that all evacuees will be transported to Novi Sanzhary in the Poltava region following screening. Five buses have been assigned for their transportation, and the convoy will be escorted by police.

The Ukrainian Interior Ministry's communication department said earlier on Thursday that citizens of Ukraine and other countries who are being evacuated from China to Ukraine will be escorted to the Novi Sanzhary medical center of the Ukrainian National Guard in the Poltava region for 14-day quarantine.
