U.S. does not guarantee visa issuance to Russian diplomat Vorontsov for attending UN Disarmament Commission meeting - source
NEW YORK, the UN. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The United States does not guarantee the issuance of a visa to Russian diplomat Konstantin Vorontsov for participating in the activity of the UN Disarmament Commission, a diplomatic source told Interfax.
"A U.S. representative has avoided answering the question whether a visa will be issued to Vorontsov," the source said.
According to the source, the United States does not guarantee the issuance of a visa to the Russian diplomat.
The UN Committee on Relations with the Host Country met in camera on Tuesday at Russia's request to discuss the non-issuance of U.S. visas to Russian delegates.
The UN Disarmament Commission postponed its organizational meeting on February 18 the for ten days at Russia's request after the United States did not issue a visa to Russian delegation head Vorontsov.
Later on, Russia requested an urgent meeting of the relevant committee of the UN General Assembly.
