Russian airlines carry 6.8% more passengers in Jan

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russian airlines carried 8.89 million passengers in January 2020, 6.8% more than in the same month last year, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported.

Tentative figures released by the agency at the beginning of this month indicated that air passenger traffic rose 6.4% to over 8.86 million.

Passenger traffic on domestic routes rose 5.7% to 5.2 million, and traffic on international routes grew by 8.4% to 3.7 million passengers. Traffic between Russia and countries outside the CIS jumped 10.9% to 3.2 million, while traffic between Russia and fellow CIS countries slumped 7.2% to 446,000 passengers.

The seat occupancy rate at Russian airlines slipped by 0.2 percentage points to 78.8%, while passenger turnover rose 9.8% to 24 billion passenger-km.
