Duma cancels Development of Parliamentarianism int'l forum due in late June
MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - The Development of Parliamentarianism international forum and some other international parliamentary events have been cancelled, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin told the press on Friday.
"We have adjusted our work plan and have decided to cancel a number of international events, including the Development of Parliamentarianism international forum," Volodin said.
He explained the adjustment with the coronavirus situation.
"Public health is the primary value; besides, we cannot offend anyone by denying an invitation," Volodin said.
State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Leonid Slutsky told the press earlier that the Third International Forum, Development of Parliamentarianism, would take place in Moscow on June 29-30.
Representatives of 60 countries have applied for participating in the forum in Moscow, Slutsky said.
