Two gunmen who attacked traffic police checkpoint in Ingushetia killed, one injured - source (Part 2)
MAGAS. Dec 31 (Interfax) - A group of unidentified gunmen has attacked a traffic police checkpoint in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia; two of them have been killed and one wounded, an informed source told Interfax.
"A group of three people drove up to a law enforcement checkpoint at the entrance to Magas and began firing automatic weapons at the people on duty. Two officers sustained injuries, and one, unfortunately, died," the source said.
Two attackers were killed and one wounded as law enforcement returned fire, the source said.
Ingushetia head Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov confirmed the information on the attack to Interfax.
"To commit this, especially in the run-up to the New Year's holidays, they must have had great cynicism and disrespect for themselves, the republic and the people. That's all that I think about this," Kalimatov said.
