Iranian Security Council secretary, Russian president discuss Russian gas supplies to Iran

DUBAI. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei said that the construction of gas pipelines from Russia to Iran and the Russian gas supplies were discussed among other matters at his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"At the meeting with Putin, we discussed the construction of gas pipelines from Russia to Iran, which would allow Iran to both resolve its own gas shortages and sell Russian gas to neighboring countries," the Tasnim news agency quoted Rezaei as saying.

Furthermore, Rezaei said that the discussions covered regional issues, including "the post-war situation and regional security."

He said that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei had previously asked him to deliver a message to Putin as soon as possible.

Putin also said that he would make every possible effort to bring an end to the current conflict in the Middle East, Rezaei said. The secretary added that Putin conveyed his regards to Khamenei.

Earlier on Thursday, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced the meeting between Putin and Rezaei at the Kremlin.
