Uzbekistan intends to broaden application of drones in economy
TASHKENT. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed proposals for expanding the use of unmanned aerial systems across economic sectors and for updating rules in this sphere, the presidential press service said in a statement.
"Initiatives aimed at expanding the use of unmanned aerial systems for civilian purposes and creating favorable conditions for private businesses and investors operating in the civilian drone sector were reviewed," the statement said.
As the application of unmanned aerial systems continues to expand, the proposed measures include updating the country's unified rules for drone operations, registration and flight coordination, as well as mechanisms for damage compensation and insurance.
One of the initiatives proposes creating a unified digital information system containing data on unmanned aerial vehicles, clearly defining permitted flight zones and introducing standardized procedures for their operation.
Particular attention was given to workforce development and the creation of an innovation and training ecosystem.
Uzbekistan plans to launch specialized training programs in unmanned aerial systems at the Transport University from the next academic year with a focus on practical training to encourage young people's interest in modern aviation technologies.
Following the presentation, Mirziyoyev instructed officials in charge of these issues to draw up proposals for updating legislation based on international best practices, expanding the use of drones across economic sectors, developing domestic manufacturing capabilities, and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs.
