Assets of Azerbaijan's State Oil Fund may exceed $78 bln by 2030

BAKU. Nov 5 (Interfax) - The assets of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) are forecast at $78.3 billion by 2030 under the baseline scenario, the Azerbaijani news agency Report said, citing materials for the draft 2027 state budget.

According to the document, under extreme scenarios the fund's assets may deviate from the baseline forecast by approximately $8 billion, either upwards or downwards.

A reduction in transfers from SOFAZ to the state budget in the medium term is expected to keep the fund's assets at a high level even under unfavorable oil price dynamics.

As reported, SOFAZ's assets increased 0.6% to $74 billion in January-September 2026.

The assets of SOFAZ increased 22.5% in 2025 and stood at $73.5 billion as of December 31.

SOFAZ accumulates income from the implementation of oil and gas contracts, in particular from the sale of profitable oil and gas by the state, transit tariffs for the transportation of oil and gas across the country, and from the rental of state property and other income.
