Kazakhstan offers Israel supplies of up to 500,000 tonnes of wheat via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Baltic ports
ASTANA. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's Food Corporation is ready to supply up to 500,000 tonnes of food wheat to the Israeli market, the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry's press service said.
Increasing mutual trade in agricultural products and introducing advanced agricultural technologies were discussed at the tenth meeting of the Kazakh-Israeli intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Jerusalem, the press service said.
At the meeting, the deputy chairman of Food Corporation's board, Samat Tenbayev, provided information about Kazakhstan's export opportunities and said that the company is ready to consider concluding long-term contracts for the supply of 200,000-500,000 tonnes of food wheat and other agricultural products, taking into account the needs of the Israeli market.
As possible routes for delivering Kazakh products to Israeli partners, it was proposed that the transport corridor through Azerbaijan and Georgia as well as alternative routes using Baltic Sea ports be considered.
Food Corporation is part of the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry. The company was established in 1995 to maintain the state reserve stock of grain, as well as to stabilize the domestic grain market and promote the export of Kazakh grain, including representing the country's interests in export markets.
