Russian govt introduces temporary ban on exports of certain petrochemical products
MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - The Russian government has introduced a temporary ban on exports of certain types of petrochemical products from Russia outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the government said on its website.
The decision aims to maintain a stable supply of raw materials to Russian industrial enterprises.
The restriction has been introduced for three months and applies to exports of coal tar and petroleum benzoles, toluene, orthoxylene, paraxylene, and phenol. They are used, among other things, in the production of paint and varnish coatings for the automotive, aviation, shipbuilding and railway engineering industries and in food packaging, flooring and insulating materials for cable products, and in the medical industry.
The ban will not apply to the export of petrochemical products under international transit shipments, to deliveries under international humanitarian aid, or to support the operations of Russian organizations on the Svalbard archipelago.
