First shipments using digital documents launched between EAEU, China
MINSK. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Pilot shipments using an electronic consignment note between Russia and China have been launched as part of a Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) project, Eurasian Economic Commission Trade Minister Andrei Slepnev said on Friday.
"The work carried out by the parties in 2025 made it possible to move to pilot shipments using an electronic consignment note with paperless technology between Russia and China. The first shipments with in-demand types of cargo - coal, fertilizers, consumer goods - using digital documents have already been launched through the Grodekovo-Suifenhe checkpoint," Slepnev was quoted as saying by the EEC press service following a meeting of the joint commission on implementing the agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and China.
Slepnev also noted progress in freight transportation between the EAEU and China in testing the exchange of electronic veterinary certificates, which is especially important given the significant share of agricultural products in mutual trade.
"We propose replicating this model for a full transition to electronic veterinary certificates, as well as giving impetus to the process of integrating the electronic systems of the competent authorities of our countries in plant quarantine," Slepnev said.
