Putin agrees with African leaders that int'l organizations require thorough reform
MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) - Russia and African countries agree that international organizations need thorough reform, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"I agree with my counterparts that the world has changed significantly and that international organizations require reform. Certainly, this must be thoroughly worked out, carefully weighed, and agreed upon," Putin said at a press conference following the Russia-Africa summit.
All key items of the global agenda "should be addressed on the basis of a broad consensus," Putin said.
"The very fact that our African friends have raised this issue is perfectly well-timed and correct," Putin said.
"Together, we are doing everything possible to strengthen the role of African states in global affairs," he said.
"We favor more equitable representation for Africans in the global decision-making system, including the UN Security Council," he said.
