Kyrgyzstan preparing for aviation audit by U.S. FAA
BISHKEK. Oct 29 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan has begun preparations for an audit by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), according to the press service of the Kyrgyz Civil Aviation Agency.
Daniyar Bostonov, the agency's director, and FAA Regional Representative Russell Ryle discussed technical cooperation and the development of air transport between the two countries During the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Aviation Safety Week in Astana.
The parties addressed issues related to collaboration, technical interaction, and the exchange of expertise, particularly focusing on opportunities to develop passenger and cargo air services between Kyrgyzstan and the United States.
The discussions particularly focused on holding technical consultations, identifying priority areas for cooperation and preparing a memorandum of understanding.
In June 2026, the European Commission removed all airlines certified in Kyrgyzstan from the EU's aviation blacklist. These restrictions had been in place since 2006. Furthermore, an ICAO mission to assess the effectiveness of government oversight of flight safety in the republic concluded in October, having taken place from September 30 to October 7.
