Uzbekneftegaz plans to drill almost 150 wells in 2027

TASHKENT. Oct 29 (Interfax) - JSC Uzbekneftegaz plans to drill 146 wells in 2027, including 96 exploration wells and 50 production wells, the company said.

The company intends to complete work on 18 wells in Q1 2027.

"As part of preparations for the implementation of these plans, the phased installation of seven drilling rigs supplied from China and the start of drilling operations are envisaged before the end of 2026," the company said.

These plans were discussed at a meeting chaired by Abdugani Sanginov, the chairman of the management board of Uzbekneftegaz, dedicated to ensuring natural gas production in the autumn-winter period.

Monitoring of daily gas production indicators will be carried out hourly November-December, Sanginov said.

Thanks to the measures taken, daily natural gas production has already increased by 1.8 million cubic meters compared with the figure as of October 1, the company said. However, the company does not disclose the actual daily production figure.

Instructions were given at the meeting to eliminate the lag in production from planned targets at the Shurtan and Mubarek oil and gas production departments, to complete drilling and testing of wells within the established deadlines, and to develop daily plans to address problems arising during drilling.

In addition, the phased installation of repair machines purchased in China at Ustyurt wells and the start of work on sidetracking and well deepening are envisaged.

Uzbekneftegaz previously said that 80 wells were drilled in January-September 2026, and another 40 will be drilled in Q4. The plan for 2027 therefore envisages a 21.7% increase in the number of wells drilled compared with the plan for 2026.
