BAKU. Oct 26 (Interfax) - The Netherlands and Azerbaijan have agreed a roadmap for 2026-2028 aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation, Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen said.
The Netherlands and Azerbaijan have agreed a 2026-2028 roadmap today, reaffirming their commitment to advancing political, economic, educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries, Berendsen said at a press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku on Monday. The sides substantively discussed a large number of issues, he said. Azerbaijan is an important partner in the South Caucasus for the Netherlands, he said, adding that the Netherlands seeks to strengthen bilateral ties.
This roadmap is a contribution to efforts to ensure peace, stability and prosperity in the South Caucasus, he said.
Bayramov, in turn, said that Azerbaijan and the Netherlands have discussed ways to expand cooperation in new areas, green energy, Baku's role on European markets and opportunities for interaction as part of the Middle Corridor.
The Alat free trade zone and the Baku International Sea Trade Port were high on the meeting's agenda, Bayramov said.
The ministers also discussed the prospects for Azerbaijan's relations with the European Union, he said, adding that the political dialogue between the sides has been developing rapidly in recent years.
