Russia's trade with India grows by more than 20% - State Duma chairman

NEW DELHI. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Russia's trade turnover with India has grown by more than 20% so far in 2026, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said during a visit to India leading a delegation of Russian MPs.

"The trade turnover between India and Russia has grown by more than 20% this year," Volodin said at a meeting with the speaker of the lower house of India's parliament, Om Birla on Sunday.

He said the two countries' leaders, President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are setting the pace for the rapid development of bilateral relations. Members of parliament, in turn, must try to do everything they can to contribute to the development of these relations through the parliamentary dimension and legislatively support all the decisions being made at the level of the heads of state, Volodin said.

"We see both the problems and the ways to solve them the same way, and here I would like to express a word of thanks for your understanding, because India and Russia are long-time friends. We and you are doing everything we can to develop relations on the principles of friendship, reciprocity, non-interference in the affairs of sovereign nations and absence of double standards," Volodin said.
