Russia's revenue from pork exports to China nearly halves in Sept 2026 to $6 mln - Chinese customs data

MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Russia exported $6 million of pork products to China in September 2026, almost half the figure from a year earlier ($11 million), according to materials from China's General Administration of Customs.

The September figure is also significantly lower than in August this year ($13.3 million). Monthly export revenue has been declining since July 2026.

At the same time, the figure for 9M remained in positive territory. Exports increased 16.1% in annual terms to $81.3 million from $70 million. However, the growth rate has slowed - it stood at 26.9% in 8M.

Russia managed to retain third place among the largest pork suppliers to China, but the figure for the UK, which until August this year rounded out the top three, is close at $80 million.

In total, China purchased pork products from 17 countries in January-September. The main suppliers were Spain ($350.1 million) and Brazil ($183.5 million).

As reported, Russia exported $86.5 million worth of pork products to China in 2025, up 1.6-fold compared to the figure for the previous year ($53.3 million).

Russian pork first appeared on the Chinese market in April 2024 after China lifted a ban on importing it in the autumn of 2023. The right to supply was initially granted to three companies - Miratorg, Tambov Bacon (part of Rusagro Group ) and Velikie Luki Meat Processing Plant. In July 2026, the Kursk Meat Processing Plant (part of Agropromkomplektatsiya Group) was added to the list of exporters.
