Rise in prices for agricultural resources may affect sowing, harvest in 2027, winter sowing plan reduced to 19 mln ha - Central Bank of Russia
MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Russian farmers have sufficient material and technical resources for conducting field work, according to the Agriculture Ministry's assessment, but expenses for them have increased according to enterprises' estimates, the Central Bank of Russia said in its report on the regional economy.
Agricultural producers note a significant increase in prices for fuel and lubricants, fertilizers, seeds and machinery maintenance, which may affect the sowing campaign and next year's harvest. In order to support farmers during the field work period, introducing per-hectare subsidies to compensate for part of the costs of sowing winter grain crops is being worked on.
The Agriculture Ministry has reduced the winter sowing plan for the 2027 harvest to 19 million ha. It was previously planned that it would be carried out on 20 million ha. "The Agriculture Ministry has somewhat reduced its winter sowing plans; it is planned that it will be carried out on an area of 19 million ha. At the same time, risks remain from weather conditions that could reduce the sowing rate - frosts, early snow, waterlogging of the soil," the CBR said.
According to current data as of the beginning of October, the sowing area exceeded 50% of the planned area. The sowing rate lags behind last year's, which may be compensated for later.
