Russian diesel supplies to U.S. may face difficulties, but Russia to fulfill agreement - Dmitriev

MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax) - The United States will receive diesel fuel from Russia despite any potential difficulties in implementing the agreements, stated, Russian Special Presidential Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev said.

"We will work on this, because we are starting from an unfavorable position here, with a multitude of restrictions. We understand that making these supplies possible will require resolving many issues regarding the agreement's implementation. But by working together with the Americans on these matters, we will demonstrate how we can act jointly and get things done," he told reporters in Moscow.

"So, the diesel will reach the United States, and we will overcome all the difficulties," Dmitriev said.

He said that the Russian economy is in good shape and that the diesel deal would allow American farmers to obtain fuel at lower prices.

Dmitriev said that Russia and the U.S. are discussing other areas of economic cooperation as well, and that Washington's sanctions policy primarily harms American economic interests. He said that U.S.-Russia cooperation on diesel would open up other opportunities.

Dmitriev said that European countries opposing the diesel agreement have nonetheless bought $320 billion worth of energy resources from Russia since 2022. "So, we see hypocrisy from Europe. Those trying to oppose Russia are themselves buying large quantities of Russian natural resources," he said.
