EU imposes sanctions against IT equipment manufacturers, radio electronics enterprises

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - The European Union has imposed sanctions against several developers and manufacturers of IT and radio-electronic equipment and microelectronics.

The decision on inclusion in the European sanctions lists was published in the EU Journal.

The entities were sanctioned because they are considered to be part of the Russian military-industrial complex and are entitled to receive federal subsidies for the housing costs of their employees.

Most of the sanctioned entities are research institutes, bureaus, centers and factories involved in the development and production of base components, assemblies and modules for the radio-electronics industry.

Several IT and telecommunications equipment manufacturers were also subjected to sanctions: LLC Aquarius Manufacturing Company, JSC Rikor Electronics, JSC Ramec-VS, JSC Micran R&D Firm and JSC IVK.

These IT companies were subjected to U.S. sanctions and added to the SDN List in 20216-2024. The biggest wave of designations for Russian IT companies was in 2022 and 2024.

"Our company has been on the U.S. SDN list since 2022 and is subject to sanctions affecting foreign companies," the Aquarius press service told Interfax. "Inclusion in the latest EU sanctions package does not affect the company's operations, nor will it impact the fulfilment of contractual obligations. Our business is already structured with this status taken into account, so no additional mitigation measures are needed," it said.
