Inflation in Russia 0.35% in Sept, annual inflation quickens to 6.35% - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Consumer prices in Russia rose 0.35% in September after falling 0.08% in August, the State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

There was inflation of 0.54% in July compared with 0.87% in June, 0.17% in May, 0.14% in April, 0.60% in March, 0.73% in February and 1.62% in January 2026.

Inflation was 5.04% in January-September 2026. Cumulative inflation was higher than for the same period of 2025, when prices rose 4.29%.

Inflation in September 2026 was higher than the 0.27% that analysts predicted in a consensus forecast for Interfax. Also, weekly inflation figures pointed to 0.30% growth in prices for the month.

Annual inflation, according to the Rosstat data, accelerated to 6.35% in September 2026 - the analysts expected 6.26% - from 6.33% at the end of August, 5.98% at the end of July, 6.02% at the end of June. Annual inflation was 5.31% at the end of May, 5.58% at the end of April, 5.86% at the end of March, 5.91% at the end of February and 6.00% at the end of January.

Core inflation was 100.49% in September 2026; the annual figure was 105.47%.

Food prices were unchanged in September and rose 5.05% in annual terms, with fruit and vegetables falling 4.24% in September and rising 4.00% in annual terms.

Nonfood goods went up 0.55% in September and 6.47% in annual terms.

Service charges averaged up 0.58% in September and rose 7.97% in annual terms.
