Kazakhstan receives Index Watch-Positive status for govt securities from J.P. Morgan

ASTANA. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has received Index Watch-Positive status following J.P. Morgan's 2026 index classification review for potential inclusion of the country's government securities in the GBI-EM emerging markets index, the Finance Ministry said.

Over the next 12 months, J.P. Morgan will assess the accessibility of Kazakhstan's government securities market for international investors, including access through international clearing and settlement infrastructure. It will also review the liquidity of bonds meeting the index criteria.

"The move to the next stage of review confirms progress in integrating Kazakhstan's government securities market into international capital markets. Potential inclusion in the index will help expand the foreign investor base, improve liquidity and reduce borrowing costs," the ministry said.
