Kamaz signs contract to supply $51.5 mln of trucks to Mali

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - PJSC Kamaz has signed a major contract with Mali-based company SMTL-SA on the supply of trucks and the construction of infrastructure for their maintenance in Mali.

The company said that the contract had been signed the day before in the country's capital, Bamako, in the presence of Mali's Minister of Economy and Finances and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.

"The contract was signed as part of an intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Mali. The deal is designed to expand the transport and logistics potential of the African country, which is an especially important part of meeting the state's need for a supply of food and industrial goods. Apart from machinery exports, repair and technical maintenance workshops for automobiles will be built in the capital, and the matter of assembling trucks in the country is also being discussed. The parties also discussed exports of spare parts, the transfer of technologies and training for Malian technical specialists in Kazan," Kamaz said in a press release.

Kamaz did not disclose the details of the contract.

Malian television channel Kati24 said the previous day that the value of the contract was 30 billion West African francs, which is equivalent to $51.5 million.
