Govt planning to open multifunctional centers to serve Russian citizens overseas - deputy PM

MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Russian citizens living overseas will be able to access government services at locations similar to the multifunctional centers within Russia, and the first project of this kind is being implemented at the "Russian House" center in Tashkent, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko said.

"It will soon be possible to access Russian government services overseas at multifunctional centers. The first project of this kind is preparing for launch in Uzbekistan. At the Russian House center in Tashkent, our compatriots will have access to the most in-demand services, for example, applying for a social security number or an electronic signature," Grigorenko said on Wednesday at the Digital Solutions forum in the Rossiya national center.

Grigorenko's office said that a similar center would be opened in Kazakhstan in the coming months and that foreign citizens would also be given access to services there in the future.

The office said that this project was being implemented as part of a program entitled "Supporting Russian Citizens Abroad", involving the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economy Development Ministry, the Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), the Rostec corporation and the Nizhny Novgorod Region Multifunctional Center.
