Green Corridor Alliance signs memorandum with Siemens on Energy Trans-Caspian Green Energy Corridor project

BAKU. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Green Corridor Alliance JV (GCA) and Germany's Siemens Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a framework for cooperation on the development of electricity transmission systems within the Trans-Caspian Green Energy Corridor project, Tural Aliyev, CEO of Green Corridor Alliance, said on social media.

"Green Corridor Alliance JV and Siemens Energy have signed an MoU providing a framework to explore cooperation on the development of power transmission system within the Caspian Green Energy Corridor Project, including potential consulting models," he said.

The memorandum was signed on September 28 on the sidelines of the Kazakhstan-Germany Business Forum in Berlin during the official visit of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Germany.

Aliyev said GCA and Siemens Energy began their collaboration this year, signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) during Baku Energy Week on June 1.

Azerbaijan plans to put the corridor into operation in 2032, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the beginning of September.

An agreement on a strategic partnership for the development and transmission of green energy between the governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan was signed by the heads of the three states during COP29 in Baku on November 13, 2024.

The power grid operators of the three countries, namely Azerenerji, Kazakhstan's KEGOC and National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan, established the Green Corridor Alliance JV to implement the project. Founding documents and approval of the joint venture's charter were signed on July 1, 2025, and the company was officially registered in Baku on July 2.

The cable along the bottom of the Caspian will become an integral part of the energy bridge project from Central Asia across the Caspian and Black seas to Europe.
