Household spending grows to 53.1% of Russian GDP in Q2
MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Final consumption expenditure amounted to 73.1% of Russia's GDP in the second quarter of 2026, up from 72.8% in the same period of 2025, the Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) said Friday in a report on GDP by expenditure in the second quarter.
The share of household spending grew to 53.1% from 52.3% a year earlier, while the share of government spending shrank to 19.5% from 20.0%. The share of spending by nonprofits serving households remained unchanged year-on-year at 0.5%.
The share of gross capital formation shrank to 23.3% of GDP in the second quarter from 25.2% a year earlier, as the share of gross fixed capital formation fell to 20.5% from 21.2% and the share of net changes in inventories dropped to 2.8% from 4.0%.
The share of next exports (exports minus imports) grew to 3.6% in the second quarter from 2.0% a year earlier.
Rosstat also confirmed that Russia's GDP grew by 1.3% year-on-year in the second quarter after contracting by 0.2% in the first quarter. GDP rose 0.6% year-on-year in the first half of 2026 overall.
The Economic Development Ministry raised its GDP growth forecast for 2026 to 0.6% in September from the 0.4% projected in the May version of its forecast.
The Central Bank of Russia lowered its forecast for the country's economic growth in 2026 to 0.0-1.0% in July from the 0.5-1.5% it forecast in April.
Analysts polled by Interfax at the beginning of September forecast that Russia's economy will grow by 0.5% in 2026.
