Azerbaijan, Central Asian countries intend to increase mutual trade to $20 bln
BAKU. Oct 1 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries intend to increase the mutual trade volume to $20 billion and launch joint production under the brand Made in Central Asia, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the CAMCA Regional Forum 2026 in Baku on Thursday.
"Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries are forming a common economic space connected with Europe through Turkey on one side and with Asia on the other side," Jabbarov said.
The first meeting between the ministers of trade and investment of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries took place several days ago, he said.
"Our goal is to increase the volume of regional trade to $20 billion and to launch joint production under the brand Made in Central Asia," he said.
Azerbaijan has already created joint investment funds with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for economic cooperation development, he said.
Peace in the South Caucasus has provided new economic opportunities for the region, including for the development of transport connections, Jabbarov said. The Zangezur Corridor will directly connect the main territory of Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and in the future will be connected to the infrastructure of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (or the Middle Corridor).
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will put into operation the Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable Project in less than a month, he said.
