Kazakhstan, Germany sign over 30 commercial agreements totaling $2 bln - Tokayev

ASTANA. Sept 30 (Interfax) - Over 30 commercial agreements totaling around $2 billion have been signed as a result of Kazakh-German negotiations, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a press briefing after negotiations with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin.

"Over 30 commercial agreements totaling around $2 billion have been signed as a result of negotiations. Obviously, bilateral cooperation will become even stronger in case of the effective implementation of these contracts," Tokayev said.

He said he had reached important agreements at negotiations with Merz and described their meetings as substantive and fruitful.

Tokayev also said he was planning to visit Bavaria on Wednesday for a Kazakh-Bavarian technological forum.

"I am expecting this meeting to bolster the partnership between our countries," Tokayev said.

Current items on the regional and global agendas were addressed at the negotiations, he said.

"We think that any conflict must be solved by peaceful, diplomatic means. This is the common opinion of our countries. We have also agreed to develop our dialogue in the Central Asia - Germany format. Kazakhstan is set to strengthen its strategic partnership with Germany aimed at long-term, mutually advantageous, tangible results," Tokayev said.
